The Reset Team is proud to partner with some of Canada’s largest retailers, where we help merchandise products and set up displays, fixtures and signs. Retail merchandisers and fixture installers assist in remodels, resets, plan-o-gram updates, stocking shelves and displays, conducting site surveys, and much more. The Reset Team travels people to these locations when staff are unavailable for projects locally. Traveling team members like Colin Maier love projects that take him to new places.
Discover Canada’s Diversity
“I love traveling across Canada; it’s such a diverse place. I’ve been to Victoria, Edmonton, Calgary, Prince George, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Kamloops, and many other cities.”
“It’s great to see historical landmarks along the way too. Victoria is definitely my favourite; I did a Walmart job there, and the area is just so beautiful, with the ocean and mountains. While in Victoria, I chartered a boat with co-workers and went deep-sea halibut fishing in the morning and then golfed in the afternoon with a halibut bbq at our condo afterwards, which was one of the best experiences I’ve had!”
”I’m a foodie and love craft beer…it’s great to travel all over the country and experience regional takes on these things. I also enjoy hiking, and each destination has a unique landscape. I have family and friends all over the country from coast to coast, and this job allows me to visit and spend time with them without any cost to me. I was running a project for six weeks in Montreal and flew my mother out from Newfoundland for a long weekend, and we explored the city together. I’ve met many new people I still keep in touch with, and I will spend time with them the next time work takes me to them.”
Meet New People
Colin told us not only does he love to travel and enjoys the variety, but this type of work allows him to meet new people from all over Canada. Colin explained that The Reset Team first hired him as a retail merchandiser after responding to an ad on Indeed. Before that, he worked a very inconsistent schedule in the film industry and often took odd jobs during the down times; he really wished he had seen the ad sooner because he loves working as a traveling team member. Since then, Colin was promoted to Site Supervisor, where he manages the overall site, the retail merchandisers and the fixture installers. Opportunity for growth is definitely possible with The Reset Team.
Colin said he mainly worked in his home city of Vancouver, but it fluctuated a lot. During Covid, he didn’t travel as much, but now the teams are working like crazy. “If you want to travel with The Reset Team, you need to be flexible, love variety and a change of scenery. You will love this job if you enjoy meeting new people and seeing different parts of the country.”
Problem Solvers Wanted
“You also need good customer service skills as you will be dealing with our customer, the retailer.” Colin also explained that you must be able to problem-solve when on site. “There are many times that you have to problem-solve; for instance, I was the supervisor on a backroom steel racking installation for a new Walmart store. Our team arrived at the site, but other contractors had clogged the areas we needed to work with construction materials and other workers. We had a deadline to meet, and I slowly chipped away at creating our space each day by quickly becoming quick friends with the leads of all the trade groups, sometimes even buying them coffee the day before. I would ask them if they could move to another location so we could build or could they clear all their materials out of our way…and it worked.” Whether you work at The Reset Team as a retail merchandiser or a fixture installer, you must find a way to make it work for everyone; teamwork is essential.”
